World No.2 Alexander Zverev has landed himself in trouble after refusing to front up to the press in light of his shock exit in Mexico.

The German ace suffered a shock straight sets elimination at the hands of rising American star Learner Tien at the Acapulco Open round of 16, classed as a 500 event.

Since his Australian Open final loss in January, Zverev has failed to make it past at least the quarter-final stage of Buenos Aires, Rio, and now Acapulco.

Visibly upset, the 27-year-old stormed out of the stadium without answering questions from the media in what was a scheduled press conference.

Players can be fined up to $15,000 for not appearing in mandatory press conferences.

His defeat against Jannik Sinner at Melbourne Park last month further rubbed salt into the wounds, as it marked his third Grand Slam final without taking home the top prize.

Zverev is currently 3,195 points behind the Italian in his quest to become world No.1 for the first time in his career, with Sinner to return for the Rome Masters on May 7.
