WATCH: RUBLEV LOSES THE PLOT TO LEAVE DOOR AJAR FOR DE MINAUR

Another inexplicable mental collapse has seen Andrey Rublev lose his head in what has been described as "sad to watch."

Locked at 1-1 in the second set, the world No.8 let his frustration out on himself by smashing his racquet against his knee multiple times to leave blood pouring down.

Rublev threw away a 5-2 lead in the opening set which ultimately led to his straight sets defeat in two tiebreaks against Francisco Cerúndolo at the Paris Masters.

The 27-year-old's meltdown is not the first time fans have witnessed the disturbing scenes, using his racquet to hit his knee in several matches this year including his third-round loss at this year's French Open, admitting his behaviour was the worst it had been for a Grand Slam.

One comment read: "Aaaaand he's back at it again. Knee all bloodied up. Seriously sad to watch at this point for Rublev."

Another person on X wrote: "Every 2 months, there is a new video of Rublev doing this and everyone will be like 'get him a mental coach or ban him etc' and he will be like 'I'm working on it and improving myself' and the cycle will keep repeating and nothing will change."

Late in the first set, Rublev was heard yelling "SHUT UP" at a spectator after he lost a crucial point on serve to trail 0-40.

The defeat means Alex de Minaur requires two victories in Paris to overtake Rublev in the race to the Turin ATP Finals next month.
