Indian Wells tournament organisers have been forced to accommodate Daria Saville following a lengthy flight delay en route to California.

The 30-year-old won her first main draw match since last year's Wimbledon at the Mérida Open in Mexico, eventually eliminated in the semi-finals.

Saville is due to play in her first-round qualifying match at Indian Wells. However, an unexpected turn of events has served as substandard preparation.

The First Serve has spoken to Saville's coach, Michael Logarzo, who shared that the former world No.20 was originally scheduled to fly from Mérida to Dallas and then from Dallas to Palm Springs, the nearest airport to Indian Wells, but her flight from Mérida to Dallas suffered a delay.

A flight to Mexico's Tijuana leading to another Mexican city of Silao was then organised, only for the Silao Airport to close at 10pm local time when she arrived.

It means Saville has been forced to book a 5:40am local time flight from Silao to Tijuana (three hour and 10-minute flight) before renting a car to Indian Wells for an estimated two-and-a-half hour drive to the grounds at Indian Wells.

Therefore, the tournament has scheduled the Aussie as the final match for Tuesday's qualifying, where she will take to the court against No.11 seed Jil Teichmann at 4pm local time (11am AEDT).

Saville's five victories in Mérida, including two qualifying rounds, place her at No.104 in the live rankings.

Indian Wells is the first combined ATP and WTA 1000 tournament of the calendar year.
