Taylah Preston and Destanee Aiava made perfect starts to their qualifying campaigns, recording straight sets victories on Monday at Melbourne Park.
Following a six-hour rain delay to commence the event, Preston took to Court 3 and was the first player into the second round of qualifying, trouncing Mona Barthel 6-1 6-2.
The 19-year-old Aussie was aggressive from the baseline and took it to the former world No.23, to record her second career victory at the Australian Open.
The teenager from Perth will face Harriet Dart [3] in round two, after the Brit triumped 6-2 7-6(5) over Australian Lizette Cabrera.

Later on day one, Destanee Aiava toppled tenth-seed Ana Bogdan 6-4, 6-2 in a statement victory.
The 23-year-old from Melbourne came in with little match preparation following a "weird" and "hostile" experience at the United Cup where Aiava did not feature on the court.
After defeating the world No.111, the Aussie's draw has now opened up and she will face Panna Udvardy on Wednesday, after the Hungarian defeated local wildcard Melisa Ercan 6-0 6-3.
Elsewhere on Monday at Melbourne Park, Alex Bolt and Tina Smith exited qualifying action in straight sets.
After a host of matches were rescheduled on day one, an incredible 82 singles encounters are set to be played on Tuesday.
Of those, 19 Australians will be in action, with the debut of Cruz Hewitt and the return of Bernard Tomic amongst the headlines.
