'NOT SO INNOCENT': KYRGIOS AIMS DIG AT SINNER AMID WADA APPEAL

Australia's Nick Kyrgios has aimed a dig at world No.1 Jannik Sinner after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) confirmed their decision to appeal the Italian's innocence.

Despite the International Tennis Integrity Association (ITIA) concluding there was "no fault or negligence" in Sinner's case, WADA has taken the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to cast further judgement.

Kyrgios fired back at those who have expressed their support for Sinner, posting on his Instagram story: "Hahaha maybe not so innocent after all eh?"

In the comments section of a Eurosport post about the breaking news involving Sinner, the Aussie added: "Hahahahahaahahahahahahahahaha god I hope the people running this thing don’t care that he is number 1 and has money."

When the news broke a few days out from the US Open that Sinner had avoided a lengthy suspension, Kyrgios was quick to become one of the most vocal about the issue.

"Ridiculous - whether it was accidental or planned. You get tested twice with a banned (steroid) substance... you should be gone for 2 years. Your performance was enhanced. Massage cream... yeah nice," he wrote on X.

During the US Open, Sinner defended himself and his team by explaining why he has been allowed to continue playing.

"I was treated like everyone else. The reason why I kept playing was because we knew exactly how it [the Clostebol drug] entered my system and where it was from. It was in the spray," he said.

"All things considered, I haven’t had a different treatment. The process was very long. Then after it went with bigger weight because when you feel like the result is coming – you still don’t know what’s coming. It was a not easy period for me."
