Following Jannik Sinner’s second-round defeat of Aussie Tristan Schoolkate, the reigning Australian Open champion revealed that his partnership with current coach Darren Cahill will end in 2025.
Post-match, the Italian told Eurosport that “it will be Darren’s last season as [his] coach.”
The First Serve asked Sinner about Cahill’s contribution to his team throughout their three-year partnership; a period which has seen the 23-year-old win multiple Grand Slam titles and soar to world No.1.
“He brought me so many things. He has been an amazing coach and person, not only for me but for all the other players he has worked with,” Sinner said.
“I feel very lucky and happy to be his last player on tour…for me, it's just a huge honour.”

The Italian noted that the partnership still has eleven months to go, with Cahill set to remain a part of Team Sinner throughout 2025, before returning home to his family.
“Hopefully, we can have a nice season. Let's see what's coming in the future…the year is still long.
“He has a beautiful family, so many great things to come for him also after his tennis job.”
Cahill – alongside Simone Vagnozzi – was awarded the 2023 ATP Coach of the Year award and played a major role in Sinner’s triumphant Australian Open and US Open campaigns in 2024.
The Australian’s illustrious coaching career has involved success with Andre Agassi, Andy Murray, and Simona Halep, throughout the twenty-first century.
Cahill – who has been a part of the professional tennis scene since his first match as a player in 1984 – has earned a well-deserved break from the tour.
It remains to be seen where the Aussie’s time will be spent in 2026, but with many coaching projects in the works, Cahill’s contribution to tennis definitely won’t be lost.
