IVANISEVIC-RYBAKINA PARTNERSHIP COMES TO ABRUPT END

The well-covered coaching partnership between Elena Rybakina and Goran Ivanisevic has come to an abrupt end after the 2025 Australian Open.

Ivanišević had stepped in to work with the Rybakina camp, following charges being laid against former coach Stefano Vukov in September last year.

At the time, Rybakina took to her social media to share the news that the pair had split, with little further comment on the specifics of the situation.

"Hello everyone, after 5 years, Stefano and I are no longer working together,” she posted.

"I thank him for his work on-court and wish him all the best for the future. Thank you all for your support."

After Vukov was unable to receive accreditation to the 2025 Australian Open, Rybakina brought in Ivanišević to support the beginning of her new season.

The Croatian - who entered the partnership under the assumption that his tenure with Rybakina would not be short-term - quickly came to learn that it may be just that.

Early in the Australian summer, the Kazakh became outspokenly defensive of Vukov, revealing that her coach of six years had "never abused anyone" and "never mistreated [her]".

She further added that "Stefano [will be] rejoining the team because I know the person for six years, and there [are] a lot of things we can do outside of the court too."

Those comments were naturally a surprise to Ivanišević who began to question his future role in the Rybakina camp.

"For the moment, I am here. What will happen in the coming days, I do not know," he said.

"Hopefully, I will stay and everything will be fine. But let's take it day by day; it is a very strange situation.

"We hear different things every day; let's hope it wraps up by the end of the week."

However, following Rybakina's fourth-round defeat at the hands of American Maddison Keys, we have come to learn that the partnership is, in fact, over.

On Tuesday, Ivanišević announced the news on his social media that the pair's tenure had ended, following just one month of competition together.

"After our trial period that finished with [the] Australian Open, I wish Elena and her team best of luck moving forward."
