'I REALLY MISS TENNIS': FORMER WIMBLEDON CHAMP TO RETURN AFTER MATERNITY LEAVE

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová has announced her return to the WTA Tour after removing herself from the sport due to maternity leave.

Kvitová, who won the All England Club in 2011 and 2014, has reached a career-high world No.2.

The 34-year-old last featured in a competitive match in October 2023 at the China Open before taking time off for the birth of her first child.

She posted a video on her Instagram account to share the news with her 677,000 followers.

"After 15 months being away from tennis and having my baby boy Petr, I'm coming back to the tennis circuit," Kvitová said in the video.

"I really miss tennis and miss competing, so I’m really looking forward to [being] back.

"I can’t wait to see all my fans, all around the world. Thank you very much for supporting me. It will be a nice journey, and I can’t wait."

Kvitová plans to make her comeback in the WTA 250 ATX Open in Austin, Texas, beginning on February 24, and then the WTA 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami.
