The result was extra special for Saville, who secured her first WTA main draw win since last year's Wimbledon, snapping a four-match losing run.
With it, 'Dasha' also clinched her first win over a top-20 opponent since 2022.
Saville defeated Varvara Lepchenko and compatriot Ellen Perez in the qualifying rounds of Merida.
The former world No.20 is currently No.133 in the live WTA rankings.
She prepares to meet another Ukrainian, Anhelina Kalinina, for a spot in the quarter-finals.
