'MELBOURNE YOU ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT': CROWDS QUEUE FOR KYRGIOS IN JCA TORTURE

Fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Nick Kyrgios' return to Grand Slam tennis have been met with frustration, pointing the finger at poor organisation around John Cain Arena.

Throughout Sunday's opening day of main draw play, a technology issue resulted in a virtual queue system crashing, leaving hundreds of spectators stranded.

An 'Arena Pass' is a new implementation at this year's Australian Open, with fans required to scan a QR code before waiting for a text message, allowing them access to their seats.

Another new change at this month's Slam is splitting a day and night session at John Cain Arena, a stadium that allows people to enter with a ground pass.

For today's order of play, fans will be asked to leave the Arena after the conclusion of Iga Świątek's match against Kateřina Siniaková to clear the stands for the night session, beginning with Aussie teen Maya Joint followed by Kyrgios.

Kyrgios himself shared multiple fans' Instagram stories, reading the following:

"Queuing 5hrs for @K1ngkyrg1os" and "Thanks AO for a f***ery of a year @australianopen".

The former world No.13 also shared two other stories of fans waiting outside the Arena to watch him play, waiting up to four hours in line.

However, further problems have occurred during Day 2 action, with fans voicing their anger on X.

Kyrgios will play his first singles match at a Grand Slam since the 2022 US Open against Britain's Jacob Fearnley, not before 7pm AEDT.
