'MINI DREAM COME TRUE': BENCIC CLAIMS ABU DHABI GLORY 10 MONTHS AFTER BECOMING A MOTHER

Nearly 12 months after giving birth to her first child, former world No.4 Belinda Bencic clinched her second Abu Dhabi title overnight.

The Swiss star won the event in 2023, adding to her trophy cabinet after fighting back from a set down for the second consecutive match to secure a 4-6 6-1 6-1 win at the expense of Ashlyn Krueger.

It moves her 2025 win-loss record to an impressive 11-2, including a fourth-round berth at the Australian Open, where she bowed out to Coco Gauff in three sets.

Rising 92 places in the rankings up to No.65, Bencic is now inspiring other women.

"It's tough to describe into words," said Bencic, who shared the court with her daughter and husband during the trophy presentation.

"I think only we know what we went through as a family. We are so appreciative and blessed to have Bella in our lives, and then also to be able to still do what I want to do, and then also having the good results on top of that – the emotions were just that I'm incredibly grateful, blessed and just a mini dream come true."

The 27-year-old put the final to bed with her 30th winner of the night, wrapping up the match in two hours and 23 minutes.
