AMERICANS THRIVE AS ADELAIDE REACHES END-POINT

Madison Keys and Jessica Pegula have set up an all-American final clash in Adelaide, while Sebastian Korda will line up against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the men’s final.

Keys, the 2017 US Open runner-up, fought back to win against Liudmila Samsonova after the Russian had to retire in the final set with an abdominal strain.

Pegula had to fight her way through a tie-break in the first set against fiery Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, but eventually closed out the match 7-6(4) 6-3.

Meanwhile, on the men’s side, Korda took advantage of relative freshness after his walkover in the quarterfinals to beat the in-form Miomir Kecmanović 6-3 7-6(4).

Having reached the final in 2023 only to suffer defeat against Novak Djokovic, the American will have another chance to lift the trophy and erase those demons.

Felix Auger-Aliassime had to battle through three sets to beat the top-seed, Tommy Paul, to become the only non-American in the singles final fields.

In the doubles, Italian duo Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli set up a final meeting with Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz after a tight win over Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavić.

Elsewhere, Guo Hanyu and Alexandra Panova took out the women’s doubles crown after a victory over Laura Siegemund and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
